Statement on President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris Winning the 2020 Presidential Election

“On behalf of the members and Board of UNA-USA Dallas, we congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on securing enough electoral votes to win the presidency and vice presidency. Joe and Kamala have vowed to repair our country’s deep pain and division and will govern tirelessly for all of us.

Every American should be extremely proud of our role in exercising our most precious democratic and universal human right – free and fair elections. An unprecedented more than 65 million people cast their ballots by mail, a tried and tested system. Evermore popular with voters, tens of millions more chose to vote by mail as the safest way to access the ballot box and exercise our cherished right to vote. The American people had their voices heard and their votes counted, and their will was clear and decisive.

As we look ahead, we recognize that great challenges will continue to face us, no matter who sits in the White House. We look forward to working closely with a Congress that will embrace the urgency for progress on sustainable development: social, economic, and environmental justice. We can’t wait to get started.

Election day is now behind us. Let us be reminded that we have far more in common than differences.”
