Programs
Previous programs have included: "African Refugees in Dallas÷A Changing Landscape; participation in the McCuistion Program "The Continuing Struggles in Yugoslavia" (KDTN-PBS Channel 2); "The US Refugee Program and Role of the State Department" featuring Marguerite Rivera Houze, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

Topics within the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th North Texas UN Conferences on Women included "Refugee Women at Risk," "Refugee Women in the Metroplex," "Eliminating Violence Against Women Worldwide," "Eliminating Violence Against Women in North Texas," and "Celebrating the UN High Commission for Refugees: 50 Years of Struggle, Success, and Progress."

Global/Local efforts included relief projects for Kosovo and African countries in collaboration with USA for UNHCR, and advocacy for Dr. Flora Brovina of Kosovo.

Our ongoing priority is to continue developing volunteer resources for service agencies, and highlighting the positive contributions refugees make in our community. The Committee on Refugees also supports the efforts of groups such as the Texas Refugee & Immigrant Womenâs Association, Metroplex Refugee Network, North Texas Immigration Coalition and others.
